Τhe Duo

Vivianna Giannaki and Mariano Gil met in Buenos Aires in 2017 and immediately started working together.

Their common passion for music unifies them in their artistic journey around the world.

The ecstatic poetry along with the intensity of the power of music, create for the senses an experience of exhilarating liberty.

The Duo performs Medieval, Renaissance and traditional Cypriot songs, Greek traditional songs from Smyrna, Argentinean Tango,

as well as Sephardic, Celtic songs and compositions of Astor Piazzolla, Manuel de Falla, Carlo Domeniconi, Manos Hatzidakis, Mariano Gil, and others.

The repertory is sung in the Cypriot dialect as well as in Spanish, Greek, Sephardic, French and English.

Since 2017, they have performed in concert halls, theaters and participated in festivals such as:

The Album “Pasiones Cruzadas” marks the beginning of their latest series of concerts.

The special edition “Pasiones Cruzadas”

(“En Tipis Publications” Nicosia, Cyprus 2020), includes a book with the lyrics of their songs

(in Greek, Spanish and English),

Vivianna Giannaki

Vivianna Giannaki is a Greek – born, Cypriot vocalist.

Won the International Opera competition `Giuseppe Di Stefano`, (Sicily) and with

Honorable Mention the 8th European

Opera Competition `Giuseppe e Stanislao Giacomantonio` (Reggio Calabria).

Has collaborated as a soloist with the Greek National Opera for the productions of

La Boheme, The magic flute, Il cappello di paglia di Firenze, Die Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny

among others.

 

Has performed in Concert Halls and Festivals around the world:

 The Kennedy Center / Washington DC, Athens Concert Hall,

Centro Cultural Kirchner / Buenos Aires, Palacio de Carlos V/ La Alhambra (Unesco Andalucia),

Musei Capitolini / Roma, Bank of Cyprus Festival, and others.

Vivianna created the `Sangre y Agua Group` dedicated to Argentine Tango productions.

Attended theatrical studies for five years (Jerzy Marian Grotowski method).

Obtained her Diploma in Opera studies from the National Conservatory of Athens with the

First Prize and Honourable Mention together with her Certificate in Opera studies from the

Greek Laboratory for Operatic studies, with EEC Scholarship.

Obtained a sponsorship from the `A. S. Onassis Foundation` for Master classes and repertoire studies in the

Academie Serge Rachmaninoff / Paris. Has studied technique and repertoire with Nadine Denize, Yves Sotin,

Robert Ketelsson and Janine Reiss (Paris – France).

Has been selected and realized projects for the French banks Bnp Paribas, Bred, Credit Mutuel,

the presidents of European stock exchange houses, Renault France and others.

Vivianna is trained in Japanese Martial Art Aikido.

 

Mariano Gil

 

Mariano Gil is an Argentine-Italian guitarist born in 1977 in Pinamar, Argentina.

He began studying music in his home town and later moved to Buenos Aires.

In 1997 he was admitted to the Advanced Guitar Studies undergraduate program,

at the Conservatorio Astor Piazzolla de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires,

under the leadership of the Maestros Vicente Elias and Javier Bravo. He graduated in 2007.

Mariano also studied Tango and Tango arrangements with the Maestros Anibal Arias and Pino Enriquez

at the Academia Nacional de Tango and has attended master classes and clinics by Paquito D'Rivera,

Diego Schissi, Quique Sinesi y Facundo Guevara.

 

For his Solo Set he chooses the classic Spanish guitar, with nylon strings, and play his own compositions,

toying with different tunes and making use of resources as basso continuo, open strings and melodic developments

within an arpeggio.

The repertoire also spans World Music as well as works by Egberto Gismonti, Roland Dyens and Carlo Domeniconi to name a few.

Norway, Belgium, France, Spain, Germany and Italy. Twice finalist on the Pre-Cosquin competition with Cuesta Arriba.
